(Digital) Christmas activities at Rödl & Partner

Now that the festive season is once again a thing of the past and we are energetically turning to the tasks of the new year, it is time for a look back at the Advent season of 2020. Although mobile working from home had a firm grip on our everyday working life in December due to the coronavirus pandemic, our colleagues around the world did not miss the opportunity to get together virtually and get in the mood for the Christmas season together.

(Distance) Secret Santa for the Rödl Employee Fund for Children’s Aid in Hamburg

Like so many events, the mulled wine evening at our Hamburg office, which was newly launched last year, had to be cancelled. Without further ado, the organisational team rescheduled and set up a (distance) Secret Santa. On 18 December 2020, the time had come. Our Hamburg colleagues gathered via Skype for a Secret Santa with punch, gingerbread and good humour to unwrap the previously exchanged gifts. All kinds of funny objects came to light, which contributed to the best, jolly mood despite the distance. The best thing: When dropping off the packages in advance, the Secret Santas could leave a small contribution in the donation box of the Rödl Employee Fund for Children’s Aid. Rödl & Partner doubled the amount so that the foundation benefited from a total of 180 euros!

Angel drawings for the Rödl & Partner Poland Christmas card

Our Polish colleagues also got involved in a good cause: for over 10 years now, the Rödl & Partner Poland Christmas card has been designed with the participation of children from selected care institutions. In 2020, children from the care and education facility in Wągrowiec near Poznan made drawings with an angel motif. From the several dozen works that trickled in, the drawing by thirteen-year-old Magdalena was awarded the best and printed on the Christmas card. Finally, there was also a Christmas surprise for the children: our colleagues prepared presents and sweets and gave couches, blankets and pillows.

Christmas children’s art event in German offices

Numerous children of our employees from the German offices in Nuremberg, Hamburg, Munich and Regensburg had a little surprise to look forward to. Since no children’s Christmas parties could take place, the HR team thought of something different: until 4 December, creative works of art on the themes of Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Epiphany could be submitted – no matter whether it was a picture, something handcrafted or something else lovely. The photos of all the artworks were published in our internal employee magazine.

Online Christmas Party of Rödl & Partner Italy

On 14 December, the Christmas party of Rödl & Partner Italy took place – online, of course. The two-hour event with videos and games was a great success: Around 200 colleagues took part, including Christian Rödl. Short videos showed funny pictures of our teams at various events. But there were also more serious topics on the programme: for example, the compilation of our goals that we achieved during the extraordinary pandemic period, as well as our vision for the next few years. In addition, the Italian event team organised a virtual tombola and relied on our team spirit in the “hunt for the culprit” to find out who had stolen the Christmas presents in a law firm. Finally, the colleagues met randomly for 20 seconds each in a “speed date” to toast each other.

In the Christmas bakery: Christmas biscuit recipes for the cold days

The Corporate Communications team took care of the culinary needs of our colleagues during the Advent season: whether Christmas tree brownies, classic Elisen gingerbread, tempting nougat sticks or cinnamon stars with meringue topping – in the Christmas Bakery, as the new section in the digital employee magazine was aptly named, delicious recipes were waiting several times a week to be baked at home. Surely the sweet treats could shorten one or two impatient waits for the festive season!
