Diversity Week 2024

To mark the German Diversity Day on 28. May 2024 and the International Day for Cultural Diversity on 21. May 2024, we spent an entire week focusing intensively on the topic of diversity at Rödl & Partner. After all, we are also a "voice for diversity" under this year's motto.

Thanks to a varied programme provided by the Diversity Network, our colleagues were able to gain insights into the different areas of diversity that play an important role at Rödl & Partner. As we know from internal surveys and our work in the Diversity Network what concerns our employees on this topic, we were able to address specific topics such as reconciling care work and career, unconscious bias, employee retention and international collaboration in various presentations.

The event kicked off with a presentation on “Understanding Otherness”. With a large audience of international colleagues the speaker explained how real or imagined differences between ourselves and others can potentially lead to different treatment or scepticism. Using different concepts and theoretical models, a colleague and communication scientist also gave us practical approaches on how we can reflect on ourselves and act differently.

The third Care@Rödl meeting took place on the second day of Diversity Week. We welcomed Vincent-Immanuel Herr from HERR & SPEER and gained exciting insights into the topic “Care Work and Male Allyship” and were able to share and discuss personal experiences.

When people feel seen and valued for who they are in the workplace, their loyalty to the company improves significantly. In their international presentation on employee retention, two of our HR colleagues from Germany and Poland highlighted the important role that line managers, team members, a pleasant working environment, the availability of development opportunities and benefits, and the implementation of the work culture play in ensuring employee satisfaction.

The final presentation of Diversity Week focused on intercultural collaboration, which plays an important role for Rödl & Partner due to its international nature. A colleague from the ESG department and a colleague from the legal department shared their many years of experience in intercultural collaboration with us and gave us exciting practical examples of intercultural competence.

The week ended with the Meet & Greet & Eat event, because what’s the best way to get to know our diversity?
Through face-to-face meetings and conversations! That’s why we invited people to a Meet & Greet & Eat, where a randomly selected tandem met for lunch – in person or online.

With this Diversity Week, we are taking another step towards a more diverse future for Rödl & Partner. We look forward to being a #voicefordiversity again this year!
