Career model

Regardless of your specialist focus, our overarching career model offers guidance for your professional development and, at the same time, freedom for the individuality of your personal career path. Depending on your previous personal experience and qualifications, you can join one of our five career stages. With each career stage, your operational responsibility for staff, budget and mandates grows, as does the strategic development of your own unit.

Through involvement in increasingly challenging projects and an accompanying talent program for the various career levels, we provide you with targeted support on your path to becoming an entrepreneurial consultant.

Associate

As an Associate in the areas of legal consulting, tax consulting, corporate and IT consulting and auditing, you will get straight into exciting projects. With us, you will support firms across national borders, from German small and medium enterprises to global DAX corporations. We are not a loose network, but a company with short lines of communication, flat hierarchies and shared values and goals.

The training courses for the various business units impart professional know-how, while our SmartUp program for young professionals gives you an early insight into interdisciplinary cooperation across subject boundaries.

Senior Associate

As a Senior Associate, you will be closely involved in mandates and frequently work on interdisciplinary and cross-border projects with colleagues from other business areas and countries.

Project management and interdisciplinary collaboration are the focus of our International Senior Associate Week, which takes place once a year for all newly appointed Senior Associates worldwide and prepares them for their work as Senior Associates.

Manager

Your focus will be on managing projects and providing close support to our mandates. In your role, you combine professional competence, consulting expertise and enjoy leading project teams.

During the Manager Insight Days, the newly appointed managers of a year group share their individual experiences and receive valuable input on the topic of lateral leadership.

Associate Partner

You will bring your professional excellence to bear into the coordination of various projects for our mandates and provide them with comprehensive support. In addition to supporting existing mandates, you will also inspire new mandates and support your colleagues in their professional and personal development.

As part of our Associate Partner Days, we offer newly appointed Associate Partners an intensive and varied workshop program on the topics of professional leadership, management and business development.

Partner

As a partner, you shape our firm with your expertise and personality and are the supporting pillar of our joint success. You live our business model, our values and our caretaker principle and are a role model for your colleagues. In return, we offer you entrepreneurial freedom and the opportunity to expand and shape your business unit.

Together with other newly appointed partners, you will come together at our New Partner Network and can network intensively within the peer group.

We take care of your professional and personal development

Learning and experience go hand in hand with us, right from the start. In addition to taking part in our in-house academy campus, which offers more than 200 seminars, professional training courses and language courses every year, either in person or via our virtual learning platform, you have the opportunity to immerse yourself in other business units as part of a practical assignment or, from the Senior Associate career level upwards, to work abroad temporarily during a secondment. 

During onboarding, a team colleague will be at your side as a mentor to help you settle into the firm. As a junior manager, you will benefit from the exchange with experienced colleagues through our internal mentoring program.

SmartUp

With SmartUp, we offer you a comprehensive training concept for an optimal career start in consulting at Rödl & Partner. Our interdisciplinary support program accompanies career starters during the first three years. We provide you with specialized knowledge from the individual service lines as well as a comprehensive overview and prepare you for entry into the various career stages. You will deepen your specialist knowledge through involvement in challenging projects and expand your methodological and social skills in targeted training courses and seminars. In addition, business unit-specific events promote collegial exchange and networking right from the start.

Our SmartUp program offers a tailored training concept that includes on-the-job training, off-the-job training and participation in campus training courses.

Training on-the-job

You will be involved in projects with increasing demands. You will be supervised by an Associate Partner and supported in your further development through regular feedback meetings. Practical assignments in the second and third year of your career offer insights into related specialist areas and promote interdisciplinary cooperation. A mentor will accompany you during these assignments and support you from your induction to your final feedback.

Training off-the-job

At the heart of the program are two face-to-face events for all SmartUP participants. These interdisciplinary training sessions bring together participants from the different business units and include professional and methodological training, soft skills training and current topics from Rödl & Partner. Experts from various service lines present practical cases to promote interdisciplinary collaboration. The training courses offer a wide range of opportunities for networking and exchanging ideas with colleagues.

Participation in campus seminars

The third pillar of the SmartUp program includes recommendations for professional and personal training courses at the Rödl & Partner campus. Selected training courses that contribute to the development of relevant skills in the first few years of a career are recommended to career starters.

I found this unique networking opportunity for young professionals to be extremely helpful for my future career, especially in terms of interdisciplinary collaboration in everyday life. I am still in close contact with many of my colleagues from my SmartUp year today.

Exam sponsorship

Excellent professional knowledge and continuous development are of central importance to us. We are therefore happy to actively support you in obtaining professional exams and other qualifications, both financially and through time off. There are numerous options for individual arrangements to enable the best possible preparation for the professional examination or another qualification.

We offer a special series of events for trainee tax advisors, which provides comprehensive information about the tax advisor exam in three modules and prepares them specifically for the written and oral exams.

In addition to the traditional professional exams, we also support numerous other extra-occupational qualifications. These include specialist lawyer courses, titles such as CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) and further training to become an accountant, tax specialist or legal specialist.
