Management and IT consulting

My first year as an SAP Consultant at Rödl & Partner

Fatih Sariarslan reports on his path to the SAP MM (Materials Management) and PP (Production Planning and Control) team in IT Consulting at Rödl & Partner. There, Fatih Sariarslan supports the SAP consultants in finding their way around their respective areas better and more comfortably.

The journey starts: Define route

The most important thing I learnt in my engineering degree was rationality. It was about data, about analysing and adhering to processes, but also about sustainability and, above all, about keeping pace with the changing world. In the world of automotive engineering, I subsequently worked on many different projects in many different areas, and in all of them I was repeatedly confronted with SAP. After working with the system as an end user for a long time, I felt the need to get closer to the starting point. For me, the starting point for improvements is recognising the need. In my search for a suitable target, I quickly came across Rödl & Partner. I was particularly impressed by the fact that Rödl & Partner is not a network, but a firm that operates internationally with its own subsidiaries in around 50 countries. For me, this demonstrates a strong entrepreneurial commitment and a decisive focus on global success.

Rödl & Partner has created an environment that promotes my growth.

First stop: Onboarding

My start at Rödl & Partner went smoothly and I can say that I received a very good induction programme. I was helped in particular by my colleagues, who are very successful in their own fields and know their area of expertise inside out. They not only explained to me how the SAP environment works, but also how they found solutions to problems that they had previously encountered with their customers. They answered my questions and shared their experiences with me, helping me to quickly familiarise myself with the new working environment.

Second stop: probationary period

Even during my probationary period, I realised how important it is for Rödl & Partner to continuously develop its employees. There is a wide range of training courses, seminars and workshops that you can take part in. For me, employee training and development is an investment in the company’s expertise and competence. In this way, companies can ensure that all employees have the necessary knowledge and skills and that their services are always up to date.

That’s why I was happy to take advantage of the offers, because for me, good training is synonymous with good counselling. This also includes soft skills such as communication. Especially in my role as a service provider, it is crucial to offer clear guidance and make unambiguous recommendations. If you have a clear point of view, you show a sense of responsibility and expertise in your area of specialisation.

But communication with each other is also something special at Rödl & Partner. I already noticed this during my probationary period, when an atmosphere of respect and openness was created right from the start in feedback rounds in which we assessed each other’s individual performance as well as team adaptation. My line manager not only took the time to listen, but also actively encouraged my development and always found solutions to challenges that arose. Here, too, the focus was on continuous learning and personal development. Rödl & Partner has created an environment for me that promotes my growth.

The journey continues: looking to the future

I am therefore convinced that I will continue my career at Rödl & Partner, because these are the working conditions I dreamed of at the beginning of my career. I look forward to continuing to work on exciting projects, solving problems together with my colleagues and achieving good results.
