You want to gain a wide range of practical experience during your studies? You can: with Rödl & Partner. You will gain a varied insight into tax consulting and familiarise yourself with several specialist areas. You are in control of the duration, location and areas of application and can therefore organise your practical assignments on a modular and individual basis.
ALONGSIDE YOUR STUDIES
You can complete Taxperience alongside your studies – you choose the period that suits you best. This allows you to optimally combine theory and practice.
MODULAR
Our modular concept gives you a comprehensive insight into the world of tax consultancy. We offer you a choice of up to eleven different specialisms at several German locations. You choose two to four of these areas of specialisation according to your interests.
INDIVIDUAL
You choose your areas of application, your starting date and the period for your practical experience. You can also flexibly choose the duration of your full-time assignment per area from six to twelve weeks.
I recommend the programme to anyone who is undecided about their career choice, needs support in setting a focus or wants to get to know a completely new area.
Intern Taxperience
Target group
- You have already completed the first semester of your economics or law degree and are very interested in getting to know the practical side of tax consultancy
- You intend to choose a tax specialisation in your further studies or have already done so
- You have a high level of willingness and motivation to familiarise yourself with new topics and participate in tax tasks and projects
- You have strong analytical skills, a results-orientated and efficient way of working as well as fluent German and very good written and spoken English skills
- You are characterised by a confident manner, a sense of responsibility and a sustained willingness to learn
General conditions
- Insight into two to four areas in tax consulting
- Six to twelve weeks per area
- Full-time internships
- The individual stages can be completed consecutively or at intervals (e.g. during the semester break)
- Start possible at any time of the year
- Choice of various locations in Germany possible. The programme must be completed at one location

Choose from a wide range of specialist areas according to your interests. Depending on the location, we offer the following areas of work:
Digitalisation in tax law
Our aim is to establish digital communication processes between our clients, the tax authorities and us as tax advisors and to utilise these efficiently. At a time when data volumes are constantly increasing, the introduction of processes to fulfil our clients’ compliance requirements has become indispensable. You will gain an insight into the organisation of an internal control system (Tax CMS), which our clients set up and implement with our support. At the same time, the exponentially increasing importance of AI plays an important role in the various process landscapes and is constantly changing our consulting options.
Real estate tax/ land transfer tax
Property is not just wood and concrete, it’s also numbers! Or rather: words, because real estate transfer tax at least is still very civil law orientated. In the tax team with the highest density of lawyers, you will be right in the middle of transactions, reorganisations and restructurings, puzzling over optimal structuring solutions and communicating with the tax office. In terms of income tax, the specialism is rounded off with extended trade tax reduction and commercial property trading.
International tax law I: Cross-border corporate taxation, foreign tax law, double taxation agreements
You will deal with extensive tax issues in a cross-border context. In particular, our colleagues will support you in examining issues relating to topics such as withholding tax, foreign permanent establishments, relocation abroad, tax optimisation of foreign investments or group structures. You will gain an insight into the relevant national regulations as well as regulations under double taxation agreements.
International tax law II: Transfer pricing
Transfer pricing is a means of distributing profits along the value chains of international corporate groups. This subject area is therefore one of the most controversial and prevalent topics in tax audits. It is important to us that your active involvement in our projects gives you a comprehensive view of this exciting topic with questions on transfer pricing determination, documentation and defense.
International tax law III: Global mobility consulting
You deal with the cross-border activities of companies and the associated international deployment of employees, e.g. Work from Anywhere (WFA), matrix organisations in corporate groups, company projects abroad, secondments, recruitment models for companies, etc. You will help to provide comprehensive advice on corporate situations from a tax and legal perspective as well as on international payroll accounting. In particular, you will support our colleagues in auditing and advising on immigration, labour law, social security, double taxation issues, tax returns, auditing permanent establishment risks and advising on remuneration models, payroll accounting and much more. We provide professional and procedural advice and also support the implementation of appropriate digital solutions, drawing on our international global mobility network of colleagues.
Ongoing tax advice / tax declaration
In this area of work, you will gain a comprehensive insight into the ongoing tax declaration activities. You will provide support with financial accounting, including advance VAT returns, which form the basis for the preparation of surplus income statements and balance sheets as well as the associated company tax returns (e.g. declarations of assessment, corporation tax returns, trade tax returns and VAT returns).
Succesion advice, inheritance- und gift tax
Let us support you in the civil law and tax optimisation and implementation of company succession for entrepreneurs and wealthy private individuals through gifts or inheritance. In addition to the valuation of companies, you will gain an in-depth insight into the regulations on the preferential treatment of business assets and inheritance tax planning.
Steuerliche transaction advice/ M & A
Do you want to play a part in exciting deals? Then you’ve come to the right place! In our M&A tax team, you can help us with tax advice on company acquisitions and sales. Support us in tax due diligence projects (tax review of the companies to be acquired), in the structuring of acquisitions and sales (share deal vs. asset deal, debt push down, exit readiness, etc.) and in tax issues relating to the integration of acquired companies after the transaction has been completed (PMI – Post Merger Integration).
Tax structure advice national / international
Familiarise yourself with the complex (income) tax issues surrounding aperiodic business transactions. Among other things, you will gain an insight into mergers, changes of legal form, contributions, changes of shareholders, cross-border succession planning and the examination of a tax-optimised group structure, taking into account both domestic and international aspects.
Tax business partnering
In addition to the classic declaration consulting activities (preparation of bookkeeping, preparation of annual financial statements, preparation of current tax invoices and tax returns), you can participate in creative consulting projects in various specialised tax topics. In addition, you will gain initial insights into the ongoing cooperation with selected clients that we support together with international colleagues in the Tax and Accounting department. This will give you an initial insight into company tools and processes.
Tax compliance / Tax compliance management system
Tax law requirements and declaration obligations are constantly increasing, especially for internationally operating companies, as is the associated obligation to correctly categorise tax issues. A tax compliance management system enables a company to identify tax risks (including income tax, VAT, payroll tax, transfer pricing) and to mitigate these through appropriate measures and controls and ensure the fulfilment of tax obligations. We would like to work with you to develop customised project approaches for our clients and support companies in the successful implementation of a tax compliance management system.
Sales tax advice / VAT Services
You will provide support with VAT enquiries of all kinds, on national VAT law and on cross-border issues with a global dimension, on transactions (such as in the M&A or real estate sector), for which you will also discuss enquiries with our foreign VAT specialists in our International VAT Group. The advice and also selected declarations concern all conceivable companies, company sizes and industries and, in addition to purely substantive legal advice, also require business management, risk-oriented advice on supply, service, distribution and production structures or generally the (contractual) set-up of business transactions, for example on electromobility, sharing economy, e-commerce, NFT art, banks / financial service providers and insurance companies, automotive and plant / mechanical engineering.
Customs und foreign trade
You will deal with extensive customs, foreign trade and excise tax law issues in a national and international context. In particular, you will support our colleagues in examining issues relating to customs valuations, the customs classification of products, the use of customs procedures, compliance with prohibitions and restrictions on the movement of goods, the preparation of expert opinions in the foreign trade sector on embargo issues, classification in accordance with the EU Dual Use Regulation and the representation of client interests in any appeal and legal proceedings. You will gain an insight into the relevant national regulations as well as EU regulations and international rules and regulations that go beyond these.
